Base
The Base Outback is set up with upscale amenities such as automatic high beams, LED steering-responsive headlights, LED fog lights, keyless entry, raised roof rails, single-zone automatic climate control, and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. It also gets illuminated vanity mirrors, a holder for sunglasses in the overhead console, a 60/40-split flat-folding and reclining second-row seatback, a USB port, and a cargo area with underfloor storage and a removable tray. Subaru's EyeSight suite of driver-aid technologies comes standard, adding pre-collision braking, advanced adaptive cruise control with lane centering, lane departure and sway warning, lane keep assist, and automatic emergency steering. For infotainment, the 7-inch touchscreen system compiles smartphone integration (Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming, SiriusXM satellite radio, HD radio, and an audio system with four speakers.
Premium
The Premium is upgraded with heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver's seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, turn-signal indicators embedded in its exterior mirrors, front and rear windshield wiper de-icers, a front USB-C port and two second-row USB charging ports (one Type-A and the other Type-C), a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and - in the cargo area - a retractable and removable cover and an LED light. The infotainment system moves up to an 11.6-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hotspot, an additional pair of speakers.
Onyx Edition and Onyx Edition XT
The Onyx Edition looks different with its black exterior accents and water-repellent StarTex
upholstery. It also comes with proximity entry with PIN-code access and push-button ignition, a
hands-free liftgate, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with a HomeLink universal garage door opener,
and the same infotainment upgrades listed for the Premium trim. At this level, the EyeSight suite is
augmented with blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, lane change assist, and a 180-degree
front-view monitor.
The Onyx Edition XT gets the larger engine, a 260 hp (277 lb.-ft. of
torque) turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder BOXER, along with heated rear outboard seats, a
moonroof, and a power front passenger's seat. Navigation also becomes a standard feature.
Limited and Limited XT
The Limited gets leather seats (with a power-adjustable front passenger's seat and heated rear outboard seats), plus position memory for the driver's seat and exterior mirrors. Like the Onyx Edition, it gets blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane change assist, but Subaru includes reverse automatic braking as well. The infotainment system rises higher with a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with a GreenEdge amplifier. The Limited XT has the turbocharged engine, navigation, a moonroof, a heated steering wheel, and DriverFocus, Subaru's acclaimed distraction mitigation system.
Touring and Touring XT
The Touring gets the moonroof as well as ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, power-folding exterior mirrors, Nappa leather upholstery, a digital rearview mirror, and a CD player. In addition to navigation and the equipped the same way, but with the more potent engine.
Wilderness
The Wilderness stands apart as the only 2023 Outback trim with 9.5 inches of ground clearance (versus the other trims' 8.7) and a heavy-duty roof rack designed to accommodate a tent when it's stationary. Otherwise, it takes the same standard features list as the Onyx Edition XT but adds all-terrain tires and hexagonal LED fog lights. Reverse automatic braking is optional.
