2024 Subaru BRZ tS Preview

Already benefiting from a 2022 redesign, the Subaru BRZ goes to new heights for 2024 with the launch of the BRZ tS trim. This addition to the BRZ lineup will hit the streets earlier next year. In the meantime, we’ve put together this preview of its highlights. Full details of the 2024 Subaru BRZ tS will be available closer to production. The tS initially appeared in 2018 as a limited-run edition for the first-generation BRZ. It’s now a full trim that sits atop the BRZ range.

Mechanical Highlights

The BRZ tS is set to get its power from the platform’s naturally aspirated 228-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder Boxer engine. This is meant to be a true enthusiast’s car, which is why Subaru is building it exclusively with a six-speed close-ratio manual transmission and rear-wheel drivetrain. The BRZ tS’s other high-performance features will include STI-tuned front and rear Hitachi dampers for weight savings, a low center of gravity, and precision handling. Look for the car to get enhanced stopping power from extra-capable Brembo brakes with larger pads and rotors and distinctive gold-painted calipers on all four corners. A Torsen limited-slip differential will add to its sure-footedness.

Standard Features

Subaru is adding exclusive features to the BRZ tS to make it stand out from the other versions of this nameplate. Many of these details will display tS badging, such as on the front grille and rear decklid. A couple of the other differentiating characteristics are side mirrors and a roof-mounted shark-fin antenna finished in Crystal Black Silica, plus 18-inch dark gray-finished aluminum alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires. The BRZ tS is set to please its driver with touches like a customizable 7-inch digital instrument cluster with version-specific accents, steering-responsive LED headlights with automatic height adjustment, performance-design front seats with blue contrast stitching, head restraints with blue leather detail, and a leather wrapping for the steering wheel, shifter boot, and parking brake boot. Its comfort and convenience features will include dual-zone automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, variable intermittent windshield wipers, two USB ports, fold-down rear seat backs, welcome lighting, and heated power side mirrors.

Advanced Driver Aids

The tS trim is breaking ground as the first manual-transmission Subaru model to have EyeSight Driver Assist Technology installed. This suite of advanced driver support technology includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure and sway warning, lead vehicle start alert, and adaptive cruise control. It will also have blind-spot detection with lane keep assist and rear cross-traffic alert, along with a full set of airbags, anti-lock brakes, incline start assist, vehicle stability control with a track mode, and traction control.

Infotainment and Connectivity

You can expect an 8-inch touchscreen display to handle the infotainment duties for the BRZ tS, controlling an eight-speaker sound system, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, and voice-activated controls. Subaru’s Starlink connected services will provide emergency support, remote services (such as engine start and vehicle lock/unlock), and maintenance monitoring.
