2024 Subaru Impreza
For more than 30 years, the Impreza has served as the entry point into the Subaru brand. The automaker
took this legacy to heart while developing the sixth generation, which starts with the 2024 edition. Now
available only as a five-door hatchback, the 2024 Impreza has been completely redesigned inside and out.
A prominent grille sets the stage for the contoured, modern body behind it, while the reworked cabin
focuses on the driver’s ergonomics and welcomes all passengers with comfortable space and abundant
features.
Subaru has also streamlined the Impreza lineup to just three trims, topped by the
loaded RS. This is significant in that it marks the return of the Impreza RS after a 20-year absence.
The main attributes of this more powerful edition are its specially tuned suspension and sportier
design.
Trims and Powertrains
As mentioned, Subaru makes three versions of the 2024 Impreza: Base, Sport, and RS. A 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine making 152 horsepower sits under the hood of the Base and Sport, while the RS gets a 2.5-liter four-cylinder powerplant that puts out 182 horsepower. All trims have Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, which is managed by a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The Sport and RS also get paddle shifters with eight manual-mode speeds. According to the EPA, the smaller engine achieves 27 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway, while fuel economy for the Impreza RS is 26 mpg around town and 33 mpg on the open road.
Standard Features
The Impreza Base has dual-zone automatic climate control, steering-responsive LED headlights with auto
on/off, fabric upholstery, and 16-inch steel wheels with covers. The Sport adds LED fog lights, a rear
stabilizer bar (for improved handling), larger front disc brakes, proximity keyless entry, push-button
start, a track-inspired instrument cluster, upgraded fabric upholstery, a center armrest for the back
row, and 18-inch alloy wheels.
The RS gets everything mentioned for the Sport plus black-finished
exterior elements, upgraded headlights, premium fabric upholstery, exclusive interior accents, a
cargo-area cover, and aluminum pedal covers. The All-Weather Package (heated front seats and side
mirrors and a windshield wiper de-icer) is standard with the RS and optional on the Sport. A power
moonroof is optional for the Sport and RS. The RS can be ordered with a ten-way power driver’s seat.
Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Equipment
All 2024 Impreza trims are equipped with Subaru EyeSight, a collection of advanced driver aids that increase driver confidence and overall safety. The components are forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning and prevention, sway warning, adaptive cruise control with lane centering, and automatic high beams. Automatic emergency steering and blind-spot monitoring with lane change assist and rear cross-traffic alert are optional on the Sport and standard on the RS. Every ’24 Impreza also has eight airbags, anti-lock brakes, vehicle stability control, traction control, and a rearview monitor.
Infotainment and Connectivity
For infotainment, the redesigned Base Impreza has dual 7-inch touchscreens along with a four-speaker sound system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a USB port. The Sport and RS are enhanced with an 11.6-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, another pair of speakers, additional USB ports, and access to a Wi-Fi hotspot and Subaru connected services (for emergency help, remote vehicle monitoring, and other features). The RS also gets wireless device charging and is eligible for a ten-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
