2024 Subaru Legacy
With the arrival of the 2024 model year, the Legacy nameplate marks its 35th year in the Subaru lineup.
This midsized sedan represents an evolution of classic Subaru strengths: all-wheel-drive capability,
spacious accommodations, and strong value. In fact, the 2024 Subaru Legacy is the only vehicle in its
segment with standard all-wheel drive (AWD).
With five trims, there’s a Legacy for just about
every budget and equipment preference. Plus, a choice of engines allows individual buyers to prioritize
efficiency or performance – whichever they prefer. When it’s equipped with the turbocharged Boxer
engine, the Subaru Legacy is the most powerful AWD sedan in its class.
Trims and Powertrains
Subaru sells five versions of the 2024 Legacy: Base, Premium, Limited, Sport, and Touring XT. The Base, Premium, and Limited have a 182-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 182 horsepower. A turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine producing 260 horsepower sits under the hood of the Sport and Touring XT. All-wheel drive with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) is the sole drivetrain for the 2024 Legacy. The EPA-estimated fuel economy with the 2.5-liter engine is 27 mpg around town and 35 mpg on the open road. With the turbo engine, the Legacy is rated for 23 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.
Base
The Base version of the midsized Legacy is equipped with a range of appealing features, like automatic climate control (single-zone), automatic high beams, steering-responsive LED headlights, remote keyless entry, and a versatile 60/40-split folding rear seatback. The infotainment system, contained within a 7-inch touchscreen, features Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, HD Radio, SiriusXM satellite radio, a four-speaker sound system, and Bluetooth wireless connectivity. Meanwhile, safety is prioritized with the standard EyeSight Driver-Assist Technology suite, which bundles pre-collision braking, lane departure and sway warning, lane keep assist, advanced adaptive cruise control with lane centering, and automatic emergency steering.
Premium
This trim adds some nice amenities such as dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats with power adjustments for the driver, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, heated side mirrors, a windshield wiper de-icer, a front-row USB-C port, and two rear USB charging ports (Type-A and Type-C). The Premium also receives an advanced multimedia system centered around an 11.6-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a six-speaker audio system.
This trim’s options include a moonroof, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, integrated navigation, voice recognition for the infotainment system, blind-spot detection, lane change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert.
Limited
The Limited is like a fully optioned version of the Premium, but without the navigation, voice recognition, and moonroof – which can all be added as options, as can driver attention monitoring technology (Driver Focus) and a heated steering wheel. The other standard features added at this level are leather upholstery, heated rear outboard seats, a power-adjustable front passenger’s seat, memory settings for the side mirrors and driver’s seat, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, a top-notch 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, and LED fog lights.
Sport
While the Sport omits the power-adjustable passenger’s seat, leather upholstery, heated rear seats, and memory settings that are standard on the Limited, it boasts a more athletic design with a trunk spoiler, stainless-steel exhaust tips, and red-stitched sport cloth upholstery. On top of that, it gets a heated steering wheel, a moonroof, and Driver Focus driver attention monitoring.
Touring XT
At the lineup’s peak, the Touring XT inherits the power-adjustable passenger’s seat, heated rear outboard seats, and memory settings. It also gains ventilated front seats, Nappa leather upholstery, connected navigation, voice recognition, a 180-degree front-view camera, and power-folding side mirrors.
